Jaisalmer Fort:
This Fort situated on the Trikuta Hill was established by Maharawal Jaisal and is also known as “Sonar Quila” because it is made up of golden yellow sandstone. The fort is about 800 years old and is defended by 99 towers and has a large number of temples, residential areas and markets. The fort stands over 30 m over the city and is approached through Ganesh Pol, Suraj Pol, Bhoot Pol and Hawa Pol.
Havelis:
The town is famous for the large number of havelis; important among them includes the Nathmalji Ki Haveli, Salim Singh Ki Haveli, Patwon Ji Ki Haveli, and the Tazia Tower.
Desert National Park:
It is an excellent ecosystem and covers a total area of about 3162 square km and was notified a National park in the year 1980. The National park is rich in diverse varieties of fauna, important among them include the Chinkara, Desert Hare, Blackbuck, Desert Snake, fox and vultures.
Gadsiar Lake:
It is located near “Tillon Ki Gate” and is a major tourist attraction in Jaisalmer. It is a water conservation tank made in the 15th Century AD where one can find a large number of birds most of which migrate from the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary located nearby.
